Truth in Taxation
The City of Victoria will host its Truth in Taxation hearing on December 11, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at in Council Chambers at the Victoria City Hall, 1670 Stieger Lake Lane, Victoria, Minnesota 55386. This is a time for the public to hear a general review of the City’s budget and levy and an opportunity for the public to comment on the proposed budget and levy, prior to Council adoption.
June through October 2023
- City Council held three budget workshops, open to the public, to consider the proposed budget and preliminary tax levy required to maintain current delivery of services.
- City Council determined the preliminary tax levy for taxes payable in 2024 at the Regular Council Meeting on September 11, 2023.
- City Council held a budget workshop, open to the public, to review the Enterprise funds, Capital funds, and five-year Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) for 2024 at the Regular Council Meeting on August 28, 2023.
- City Council will hold a Truth in Taxation Public Hearing at the Monday, December 11, 2023 City Council Meeting.
- City Council will decide whether to adopt the 2023 budget and establish a final levy at the Monday, December 11, 2023 City Council Meeting.
How much do Victoria homeowners pay in property taxes? The amount due depends on a number of factors, including the following.
- Levies from the City of Victoria, Carver County, school districts and other taxing agencies
- Market value
- Property classification
Learn how property taxes are calculated and property tax revenue is apportioned among taxing jurisdictions including the city, county, school district and any special taxing authorities. The city’s taxes are approximately 25% of the total tax bill.
